Interesting pictures in the newspapers, magazines and other
articles is becoming increasingly popular these days. It is by a large section of society that
adding images with a story increases the impact of that story. I completely
agree with this view and the discussion contained in the following paragraphs
will justify my argument.
To begin with, the addition of images in the articles
immediately captures the attention of the reader. In the newspaper, for instance,
the news containing a picture is more likely to be read as compared to text
-only news. Consequently, the breaking news of the day are often accompanied by
various images to engage the readers. Furthermore, the purpose of pictures is
to target specific readers. This can be exemplified by the attempt of editors
to add images of various artists to grab the attention of their followers.
Moreover, the interest of children is created in reading news by inserting
their favorite comic -book characters. A recent survey by university of
California on group of news readers revealed that more than 90% of the readers are
attracted towards a news article which has some visual aid to it.
Additionally, the pictures are essential to describe a
scenario better than the text. The crime news, for instance, are better
understood through pictures because they have the capability to transport us to
the actual crime scene. In addition to this, figures are required when there is
some factual information related to the news. In this case, the news contains
graphs and pie charts to help us in comprehending the data easily. This can be
illustrated by the rising use of data analytic techniques to compare the number
of patients of coronavirus across the world, and daily surge in those cases. Therefore,
the news related to views often carry various graphed to display the increase
or disease in the daily cases reported.
To recapitulate, more and more articles are containing
figures which attract more readers. These pictures are indeed proving out to be
useful in depicting the news. They are successful in gaining more readers and
further provide aid to the readers to help them understand the information in a
better manner.
