Many people believe that the type of clothes person wears
reflect a lot about his personality traits. They argue that clothing items can
reveal a great deal of information about an individual ‘faith, tradition and character.
I completely disagree with this view and the analysis contained in the
following paragraphs will explore my argument in detail.
To begin with, someone’s attire cannot reveal their true identity.
there have been numerous incidents where the priests and preaches, who claim to
be the superior beings wear traditional robes, but they turn out to be seasonal
criminals. This can be exemplified by a recent news from India where a saint
having millions of followers was sentenced to life imprisonment by the
judiciary for his involvement in grave offences. His true nature was, however,
never revealed by his choice of clothes; in fact, he utilized the traditional
robes to conceal his criminal identity. Moreover, it is hard to differentiate
between the terrorists and local civilians as they wear similar kind of
clothes, but they carry different intentions underneath. As a matter of fact,
the terrorists sometimes disguise themselves by wearing army uniform to easily
walk through to their planned sites of destruction. Thus, choosing certain type
of clothes dose not reflect the character of an individual.
Furthermore, although there is no denying the fact that the
traditional clothes immediately inform us about the culture the people belong to,
but it cannot guarantee that the people have knowledge or report for that culture.
Enquiring them about their tradition reveals that, nowadays, people possess no
information about the historical importance of their attires. It is, therefore,
necessary to see that there is no link between the identity of people with the the
clothes they wear. It is even more important to consider that it is the actions
of the individual which tells us about their character. This is usually
reflected from their behavior with different classes of people; be it the
janitors or affluent people.
To recapitulate, the belief that the clothes a person wears reveal
a lot about them is not correct. I oppose this view and believe that individuals
can hide their true identity beneath their clothes, and it is their actions
which reflects their nature.
